NBC 7 X Girls In Tech
Oprah once said, “I want all the girls watching here and now to know a new day is on the horizon”.
A new day has arrived and we are beyond excited to be a part of this exciting new chapter in our world’s history. Women are making an impression and the momentum is just beginning! A few weeks ago, we attended an event hosted by Girls in Tech. Women and girls of all ages attended to learn and tour San Diego’s NBC 7 news station.
What is Girls in Tech? Girls in Tech, as said by Vanessa Miranda, “is a global non-profit organization with a mission to empower, educate and encourage women to pursue their careers in technology and for those who are already in the tech world”. Girls in Tech also offer mentorship programs to assist in inspiring other women to succeed in their ambitions.
The organization has other events such as happy hour brunches, financial literacy and Hack-A- Thon to further engage in the community. Hack-A-Thon is an incredible event that really caught our attention. It is set in motion to promote social change in the community as well as the country. To learn more about Hack-A-Thon click here!
In our ever-changing world, it is key to not only stay ahead on your social media game, but also promote and create awareness of our world through our online tools. NBC 7 could not agree more, which was another reason they collaborated with Girls in Tech.
NBC 7’s staff representatives elaborated on the importance of being adaptable and willing to learn. Technology is fast paced and is always evolving. The job fields people once went to school for are now being combine with others.
The Girls in Tech organization is bringing awareness and encouraging women to become a part of the tech community. To not be afraid to live out what they are truly passionate about. We are a movement that is just beginning and together encourage each of you to chase that passion within.
